How to Answer the Single Most Important Question
You’ll Ever Ask.
A nonfiction, self-coaching book for women by Lori Chance.
Available on Amazon!
Having watched my mother survive a brain aneurysm just shy of her 50th birthday, I came face to face with my own mortality at only 27 years old. The experience made me ask, “Who am I?” and became the most profound and deeply rewarding journey of my life.
With a background in life coaching and human development, this step-by step approach shares the process I used to transform my own life. With real-life stories, this book is designed for women who want that “something more,” but don’t know where to start.
I wrote it while working 50+ hours per week, being of support to my husband during the start-up of his business, and caring for our two young children. In only 10 minutes per day, I changed my life. I believe that if I can do it, anyone can, and I want you to know how.
As a master at turning the challenges of every day life into meaningful experiences, I am working on my 2nd book, a memoir of this journey. While writing my own nonfiction, I supports other authors as a writing coach, helping them weave their way through the doubts and fears to achieve their dreams of publishing. My husband and I live with our two children in the beautiful Willamette Valley of Oregon on the West Coast of the United States.
Responses to Who Am I?
A good book is like a good speech. It has a hook to get your interest, a body that flows well and makes you think, and a hit or conclusion that gives you something to take away. Who Am I? has all those things. This isn’t someone talking down to us from their million dollar pedestal. Lori and all her examples are real people. I can relate to Angela not being able to pay bills on time and there will be thousands who can. It creates a sense of commonality. The best part was the values exercise. I couldn’t help printing them out so I could work on them the next day in my morning journaling. The book ended with a trio of platforms to use: Vision. Purpose. Values. The same kind of principles as the book Eat, Pray, Love.

We live in a time where we are doing and striving all the time. Awareness of values is the key to unlock our hidden potential. Lori has created easy-to-follow steps to identify our values and a how-to guide to use them in our everyday lives. I highly recommend her book to those individuals seeking clarity and direction.

I read Who Am I? with great interest. It recalled an incident when I was teaching college students in Japan. When asked why they wanted to have kids the majority of them answered, “So we won’t be lonely when we are old.” It struck me how little thought went into the major life decisions we make. Lori’s book deals directly with this key issue. It does so in a straight forward, easy-to-read manner, offering insights and exercises to help anyone who is wondering ‘how did I get here?’ Besides practical exercises that are both challenging and worthwhile, the book also offers anecdotes of real life situations – stories of people facing a variety of difficult situations that are easy to relate to. How Lori helps these people gives insight into how we can help ourselves.
